In short

Fraunhofer IML is developing evoBOT, a two-wheeled autonomous transport robot that balances via an inverted pendulum mechanism and handles packages with two modular gripper arms. The system can pick goods from floors and conveyors, move them between heights, and stay stable on ramps and uneven outdoor surfaces at speeds up to 10 metres per second. Fraunhofer IML uses AI and simulation-based development to test and optimise the robot's movements before deploying them physically, targeting warehouses, production facilities and freight terminals.
