State of Supply Chain Sustainability Report finds corporate commitment at record high, but governance lags behind

In short
MIT's Center for Transportation and Logistics surveyed 1,810 supply chain professionals across 91 countries for its 2026 State of Supply Chain Sustainability Report, finding that 83 percent rate sustainability as important or very important to long-term business success — the highest level in the report's seven-year history. Yet governance and accountability lag: only 51 percent of companies with public goals have a formal cross-functional sustainability team and just 33 percent place oversight at board level. Tariff uncertainty, geopolitical conflict, and gaps in measurement and AI governance (notably in automated warehousing) are preventing commitments from translating into real decarbonization.
