In short

A new DHL Globalization Tracker report, produced with NYU's Stern School of Business, finds that demand for AI-enabling goods such as semiconductors and data-transmission equipment is now the dominant force in global trade, offsetting headwinds from higher U.S. tariffs and geopolitical conflicts. Trade in AI-enabling goods drove 42% of goods trade growth in 2025 and rose to 76% in the first quarter of 2026.
