Russian Trucks Get Dazzle Paint to Fool AI Drones
· Source: migflug.com
In short
Russian Ural and KamAZ supply trucks have been photographed wearing bold black-and-white zebra stripes and swirling leaf-like patterns in an attempt to defeat the machine-vision algorithms on AI-assisted Ukrainian kamikaze drones hunting logistics up to 200 km behind the front. The tactic echoes the dazzle camouflage devised by British war artist Norman Wilkinson in 1917, which attacked the observer's assumptions rather than hiding the ship. Experts warn the effect is temporary, since thermal sensors ignore paint and AI classifiers can be retrained on the new patterns, and Russia previously used car tires on Tu-95 bombers for the same counter-AI purpose in 2023.
