In short

Hyundai Motor and Kia are replacing foreign-made plant equipment and software with in-house developed technology, starting with a tunnel-type exterior inspection vision system built entirely from optical systems and algorithms to hardware and software. The automakers plan to standardize in-house logistics robots, which cut manufacturing costs by about 30% and charging time from two hours to roughly 12 minutes, and to roll out their manufacturing-specialized AI 'E-FOREST Polaris' into plants worldwide after a September pilot at the Ulsan EV plant. The technologies were presented at the seventh E-FOREST Tech Day 2026, part of the group's Software Defined Factory strategy validated first at HMGICS in Singapore.
