SK Telecom won the 'Most Innovative 5G Communication Service' category at the Network X Awards in Vienna for its AI-RAN-based autonomous vehicle mobility technology for finished vehicles. The system uses on-site lidar sensors and AI-RAN base stations to build a digital twin of a site, calculate collision-free paths and send driving commands, enabling even ordinary vehicles to be converted to driverless transport with added modules. The company plans demonstrations at a South Korean finished-vehicle plant next year before expanding to ports and airports.
