IRU's Commission on Innovation and Technology met in Brussels to discuss vehicle data access, emissions-control problems, battery safety and the practical deployment of AI in commercial road transport. Members endorsed a 2027 work programme focused on regulatory harmonisation, digitalisation, energy transition, vehicle technology and safety. Industry presentations showed AI already applied in freight planning, dispatch and predictive driving.
