Make the Tradeoffs Explicit: Stakeholders, Constraints, and Competing Objectives
· Source: logisticsviewpoints.com
In short
Logistics transformation programs often pursue cost, service, inventory, resilience and flexibility as if they were all compatible, when in practice they collide at the operating-decision level. Applying systems engineering, the article argues that stakeholders, physical and economic constraints, and tradeoffs must be made explicit and converted into decision rules before technology is deployed. Otherwise, hidden policy choices embedded in optimization and AI models surface later as excess inventory, missed service, fragile integrations and adoption failure.
