Fujitsu Applies AI to Optimize Next-Generation Regional Logistics

In short
Fujitsu is applying research on societal acceptance of drone delivery to its Uvance Dynamic Supply Chain Management business, combining acceptance insights with flow-of-commerce and logistics data to design regional delivery services via AI-driven analysis and simulations. The research, a 5,113-person survey conducted with Kyushu University, Sungkyunkwan University and others and published in Transportation Research Part E, shows that acceptance depends on trust in systems and perceived social value as much as on speed and cost. Fujitsu plans to link WMS/TMS with drones and autonomous delivery robots to restructure last-mile networks, tailoring transport modes to dense urban and depopulated mountain regions.
