In short

A Censuswide survey of 152 reliability and maintenance practitioners and VP-level operations leaders in ecommerce distribution and logistics found that 91% approved, implemented or integrated a new automation investment knowing their team or facility was not prepared to maintain it, with 49% saying it happened more than once. Although 99% of practitioners are confident their facility can catch early asset degradation, 82% have dismissed a sensor alert that turned out to be a real failure and only 10% continuously monitor all critical assets in real time. Most facilities invested $5 million to $100 million in automation over three years, yet 95% of VPs say a major downtime event would match or exceed that annual investment.
