AI Routing Framework Learns From Five Sensor Streams, But Classical Planners Still Win

· Source: bioengineer.org

In short

Researchers present MARLIN, an end-to-end framework combining reconstruction-based pre-training of five IoT modality encoders, gated cross-attention fusion, SLA-aware delay prediction, and a graph-based Soft Actor-Critic routing agent. On a controlled benchmark built from four public datasets, MARLIN reaches a mean absolute error of 0.7966 minutes and 99.8 percent aggregate SLA compliance, but classical planners such as A* and Dijkstra still outperform all reinforcement-learning variants. The authors stress the delay labels are synthetically generated and position the work as an architectural benchmark rather than evidence of operational superiority.
