In short
Japanese retailer Aeon has started full operations at the Aeon Kawaguchi-Higashi XD delivery hub in Saitama, deploying more than 90 robots, including 82 automated guided vehicles and Physical AI robot arms that decide themselves how to stack goods by store. The site supplies roughly 200 My Basket stores, reaches a 50 percent work automation rate and cuts labour by about 39 people per day, with Aeon targeting 80 percent automation by 2030. The case is presented as one of the first end-to-end automations of sorting and store-level loading, driven by Japan's chronic logistics labour shortage.
