In short
Global active industrial robot inventory surpassed 5 million units last year, rising 9% annually, while installations jumped 11% to more than 600,000 units, according to the International Federation of Robotics. AI integration and supply chain restructuring drove record factory automation, with China installing 354,000 new robots (59% of global deployment) ahead of the US and Japan. Labor shortages, reshoring and lower deployment costs for SMEs are expected to push installations to 655,000 this year and 806,000 by 2029.
